Letter from Venerable Abbot Shi Yongxin of the Shaolin Temple of China
To the abbots, masters, leaders, and coaches of Shaolin Cultural Centers around the world, heads and coaches of all academies, halls, and associations in the world that off Shaolin Kung Fu courses, Shaolin disciples, Shaolin Kung Fu practitioners, and enthusiasts from all ethnic groups worldwide, and the governments, associations, and enterprises from various countries who have supported and long cared for the inheritance of Shaolin: Good luck everyone!
The examination of practice is a tradition of Shaolin Temple. Once a year, the venerable Abbot assesses and confirms eight kinds of practice such as preaching, chanting, and etiquette of the disciples over the past year. The Shaolin Kung Fu Examination and Competition is part of these contents. Applicants use this to motivate each other and progress. The European Shaolin Cultural Festival and the North American Shaolin Cultural Festival, which began in 2011, both regard the Shaolin Kung Fu Examination and Competition as core content, and Shaolin disciples have participated enthusiastically from all over the world; it has also been warmly welcomed by the public. The 2022 World Shaolin Kung Fu Online Contest continued this tradition by using the internet to break through the isolation of the epidemic, bringing together 5,320 players from 92 countries on six continents to participate in the competition, demonstrating the strong cohesion of Shaolin culture.

考功，是少林寺的传统，大和尚每年一度对四众弟子一年来的讲经、唱诵、礼仪等八种修行功课进行考核印证，少林功夫考功比赛是其中一项内容，报考者借此互相激励、精进不懈。 从2011年开始的欧洲少林文化节和北美少林文化节，都把少林功夫考功比赛作为一项核心内容，受到各国少林弟子的倾情参与和社会大众的热烈欢迎。2022年少林功夫网络考功大赛延续这一传统，并借助互联网突破疫情隔离，汇集六大洲94个国家5320位选手参赛交流，显示出少林文化的强大凝聚力。

The 2023-2024 Shaolin Kung Fu Examination and Competition across the six continents of the world now has a unified name “Shaolin Kung Fu Games” along with a standard logo and fonts. Starting on June 17, 2023, the intercontinental competition was launched in the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Africa. Following this, the Asian Shaolin Kung Fu Games, the North American Shaolin Kung Fu Games, the South American Shaolin Kung Fu Games, the European Shaolin Kung Fu Games, and the Oceania Shaolin Kung Fu Games will appear one after another.
2023-2024世界六大洲少林功夫考功大赛，启用统一名称、徽标和专用字体，从今年6月17日起，即将从非洲刚果金拉开洲际大赛帷幕。此后，亚洲少林考功大赛、北美洲少林考功大赛、南美洲少林考功大赛、欧洲少林考功大赛、大洋洲少林考功大赛将接连登场亮相。
- authorize countries to organize Shaolin Kung Fu auditions
授权各国组织少林考功海选
The first stage of the Intercontinental Shaolin Kung Fu Games is to authorize countries to organize Shaolin Kung Fu auditions. Every Shaolin Kung Fu practitioner can participate in the competition, exchange ideas, and test their learning results locally; the winners will represent their countries to participate in the Intercontinental competition. The host city authorized by the organizing committee will decide this year’s “Intercontinental Shaolin Kung Fu Stars.” This finalizes will be invited to attend the all-around finals and award ceremonies, which will be broadcast live worldwide. The winners of the six continental competitions will participate in the World Shaolin Kung Fu Games finals in 2024, which will also be broadcast live worldwide.
洲际少林考功大赛第一阶段是授权各国组织少林考功海选，每一位少林功夫传习者都可以就近方便参加比赛、交流切磋、检验自己的学习成果；优胜者将代表自己所在国家参加洲际大赛，在组委会授权的承办城市决出本年度各单项“洲际少林功夫之星”，并将受邀出席全球转播的现场全能决赛和颁奖仪式。六大洲决赛的优胜者，将于2024年参加世界少林考功总决赛，届时赛事将进行全球直播。
Shaolin Temple and Six Continents Shaolin Federation jointly initiated the organization of the 2023-2024 World Six Continents Shaolin Kung Fu Games

Shaolin Kung Fu is a world-renowned Intangible Cultural Heritage. It has been passed down for thousands of years and is shared by all mankind. As the ancestral home of Zen Buddhism and the holy land of Shaolin Kung Fu inheritance, China’s Songshan Shaolin Temple and Six Continents Shaolin Federation jointly initiated the organization of the 2023-2024 World Six Continents Shaolin Kung Fu Games, hoping to promote the organization of the competition, increase the autonomy and enthusiasm of all continents and countries, facilitate multilevel participation and exchange, and realize the normalization and sustainability of Shaolin Kung Fu competitions, while enhancing standardization, internationalization, socialization, and Shaolin Kung Fu brand reputation. It aspires to attract governments, associations, schools and enterprises, and even the general public, to participate and support, as well as reflect the many intentions of the Shaolin Kung Fu Games: Exchange martial arts skills; learn from teaching experience; explore management models; build a shared ecology; and seek the future of Kung Fu together.
少林功夫是享誉世界的非物质文化遗产，既法脉千年、传承有序，又为全人类所共享。作为禅宗祖庭和少林功夫传承圣地，中国嵩山少林寺和六大洲少林联合会共同发起组织2023-2024世界六大洲少林功夫考功大赛，希望推动组织下沉、增加各大洲和各国自主性和积极性，方便多层次参赛、交流，实现少林功夫比赛的常态化、可持续性，同时提升规范化、国际化、社会化程度、以及少林考功品牌信誉，吸引各国政府、社团、学校和企业、乃至社会大众参与支持，并体现少林考功大赛的多重功能：交流武技武艺；借鉴教学经验；探讨管理模式；构建共享生态；共谋功夫未来。
